Following on from a very busy start to 2021, Swan Hunter were awarded another full carousel rental spread contract early in Q1 2021 with TechnipFMC, for the transportation of Technip supplied umbilicals for the Exxon Mobil Liza Phase 2 project, offshore Guyana.
.
Swan Hunter’s scope of work included equipment rental and operators for a 2500Te 23m carousel, loading tower, and 15te horizontal tensioner, and all associated project management and engineering services, including seafastening and deck integration design, and onboard installation. Given the continued COVID-19 challenges faced against international travel and movement of personnel and equipment, Swan Hunter executed carefully planned ‘part mobilisations’ with installation of the loading tower and tensioner in Rotterdam, The Netherlands, and carousel in Skien, Norway.
Umbilicals were loaded in Newcastle, UK, and transpooled to the installation vessel in Pascagoula, USA. Swan Hunter utilised two individual operator teams for the UK and USA scopes, using in country personnel for both spooling operations to minimise transmission risk and quarantine periods, highlighting the company’s commitment to providing quality equipment and personnel solutions even within the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
